Aromatics and botanicals sourced as close to Raincheck Earth’s distillery as should be. A bottle of stainless steel – lighter than glass, more durable, reusable.
Even in Mawsynram and Cherrapunji, two of the rainiest places on this planet, drinking water in the winters is scarce. We use clear, harvested rainwater to dilute the base spirit—preserving precious groundwater and honouring the paradox of abundance and lack that defines these hills.
We have taken a willful stance on making gin responsibly—and superlatively, one hopes—hereabouts.

A new kindof craft
Each bottle of Cherrapunji Gin is distilled in small batches using a hybrid still designed for precision and character. From vapor infusion of delicate botanicals to long rests in steel holding tanks, the entire process is governed by the Northeast’s air, elevation, and seasonal rhythms.
Our sourcing philosophy is simple but radical: use native botanicals that have never found their way into traditional gins. From forest-grown smoked cardamom to second-flush tea from the Lushai Hills, we source hyper-local, often foraged ingredients from the states of Meghalaya, Assam, Sikkim, Mizoram, and Arunachal.
Each botanical has a story, a reason, and a place. We work closely with farming communities and indigenous foragers, ensuring that every harvest honours both plant and person. Craft here isn’t nostalgia. It's a careful choice. Modern technique in service of ancient ingredients. Intuition honed by rain, rhythm, and respect.

life in Meghalaya
Here is a place where women lead and take centrestage – therefore our beaming Khasi lady in her jainsem is carrying khoh, the unique wicker basket used to transport Khasi mandarins great distances, without squishing them.
Foxes, clouds, hills and butterflies abound. As they do in our valleys. And bees pollinate some very grand orchids. On the bottle's other side, a Bedford and Co. bus, a familiar sight until recently on Shillong's roads, gives one a glimpse of this town's irresistible flair for the quaint and picturesque.

Meet the Founder
Mayukh Hazarika
Some journeys begin with a question. For Mayukh Hazarika, it was this: Why hasn't the world tasted the soul of the Northeast?
Born in Shillong, shaped by the rains and rhythms of Meghalaya, Mayukh went on to build a successful career with some of India's top consumer brands. An IIM Indore graduate with a sharp marketing mind and a deeper sense of place, he eventually found himself drawn home not by nostalgia, but by a purpose.

He returned to create something the region had never seen: a gin that captures the spirit of Cherrapunji. Crafted from harvested rainwater, distilled with native botanicals, and housed in a sustainable steel bottle, Cherrapunji Gin is a celebration of origin, identity, and quiet rebellion. At its heart, it's a story of going back and making something that can finally go forward.
